The Help

This afternoon with three women from our book group I saw The Help. Having read the book last year I knew the timeline of the story. I was apprehensive about seeing the movie because I enjoyed the book so much. Happily, the movie did not disappoint. The characters are believable, the story is real and the passion is evident. As I watched Skeeter, the main character, I saw someone who began the movie as an idealistic young adult fresh out of college to a young woman with a conscious. I admire Skeeter because she had courage to make a difference even in the face of adversity. May I be willing to take such a stand with the issues that plague us today.
